Does more omega-3 really mean more health?

Image
Ads for food supplements full of guaranteed healthy and necessary omega-3 fatty acids are pouring in on us from all sides. So it must be a well of health. But if you've read the previous posts, you probably know there's a catch. Studies on athletes using various dietary supplements have not shown any positive effect . Conversely, there is an increase in the concentration of toxic products such as aldehyde MDA or 4-HNE , which is certainly not good for strengthening health . But I have already written in another post  that, for example, eating fish works, so why do supplements not work? As always, it's a little more complicated. First we need to find out what we really want to improve. We only need a few polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) out of the many dozens possible. They are DHA , EPA and AA . In addition, we only need a small amount, just a little of a building material for membranes and signaling. We get them more or less finished from fish. Plants only provide se...

How to avoid chronic and civilizational diseases?

Image
I will try to briefly describe what came out to me as a solution, what emerges from research and logical reasoning, and what I do myself to avoid what we call the diseases of civilization. If you've looked at previous posts, you should know what it's all about. But maybe it seemed too complicated, or you don't want to deal with such details. You may not be interested in why and how what works and what has ever been published. So I will only present the results. So. The most important task for us is to provide every cell, really every cell, with enough energy. Even the one that isn't actually ours such as useful bacteria in our digestive system. But I don't just mean providing fuel, there is usually too much fuel. I mean real energy, a chemical called ATP (adenosine triphosphate). The fats, carbohydrates and proteins we eat in the form of meat, vegetables, fruit or bread are just fuel. This fuel becomes energy for the cell only after a complex process of digestion, ...

What does sugar, fruits and juices do with metabolism? And what about beer or wine?

Image
I have already written here how the composition of fats programs our metabolism, how it determines whether we will store or consume fats. However, fats are not the only foods that program our body. Today, we look at the research of the very active scientist, professor and physician Richard Johnson, who describes it in his book as a "fat switch." Sugar - 50% glucose and 50% fructose To put it simply, fructose, a simple sugar that is part of all common sweet foods, programs animal metabolism in the wild to prepare for winter. It is mainly about the rate at which fructose (sugar) is absorbed and gets into the liver. When liver cells are repeatedly exposed to high concentrations of fructose, the processes evolutionarily set up as when there is a lack of energy, oxygen or water are turned on. These are rescue processes for survival in critically difficult conditions, stimulate the processes of fat formation and storage (fat is also a water reservoir), save energy, increase the pr...
