Is coconut oil safe? What about soy or olive?

How does coconut oil compare to other vegetable oils? Someone recently argued on the X network a study comparing coconut, olive, and soybean oil in a mouse model of obesity. The conclusions of the study are that one would not take coconut oil by mouth. It is true that I also point out here that coconut oil contains mainly lauric acid C12:0, which can cause fatty liver because it strongly suppresses lipolysis and allows, unlike shorter fatty acids, fat storage in the liver.  But it is also a way to clean the blood from free fatty acids, which modify the metabolism of the entire organism. Insulin resistance is only an emergency. Imagine that you are driving a car and you step on the gas (insulin). You expect an increase in engine speed, acceleration, but nothing. A red light on the dashboard lights up and the car goes into emergency mode (activates HIF-1α). Why IR 2.0? Hydrogen peroxide and nitrite against cancer?

I first wrote about hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) two years ago. It was related to its regulatory and signaling functions. Its function as part of the tissue oxygenation regulatory loop I have described here is absolutely essential. Only few people realize, that the distribution of oxygen is controlled by the production of CO2, the transfer of oxygen from red blood cells to tissues is not a matter of course, it is a controlled process. Nitric oxide seems to be a backup system in case the basic regulation by CO2 and H2O2 does not work enough for some reason, when the cells cannot increase their activity at the request of the system. A typical example is the demand mediated by insulin, when we talk about insulin resistance, but it is actually a failure to transmit information from H2O2 to increase CO2 production and increase O2 delivery and to dilate blood vessels. Nitric oxide, tissue oxygenation and photobiomodulation, how are they related?

It is interesting how diverse the view of nitric oxide (NO) can be. In the first post , I took information from a researcher who saw only positives. Not even a hint of a balanced view, the voice of a salesman of NO-generating supplements. This view is given by focusing on only one function of NO, namely vasodilation. Although this is an important function, it is not the only one that NO performs. An excess of NO is quite destructive, it permanently modifies enzymes and damages the function of, for example, the nervous system, as I have already commented on . When I wrote in a previous post   that the cause of the suppressed ability to synthesize nitric oxide (NO) by the eNOS enzyme in our blood vessels in middle and old age could be its increased concentration in younger age, caused by insufficient exposure to ground-level ozone O3 in our surrounding environment, I had no idea that scientists had already begun to connect autism with an excess of NO. Ozone and nitric oxide, how do they interact?

Today I will try to supplement the previous considerations with the hypothesis of how ozone is formed in a clean outdoor environment. Fresh air in a clean outdoor environment unencumbered by emissions, far from traffic and industry, contains quite stable concentration, typically around 0.1 mg of ozone in one cubic meter. All day long, even at night when the sun doesn't shine. Human exposure to ozone over a 24-hour period is therefore much higher in a clean natural environment than in the vicinity of emission sources burning fossil fuels. Nitric oxide, a miracle molecule that we will hear a lot about!

In this post, I would like to introduce you to one important online lecture , which summarizes many findings and basically the results of the investigation of such a simple molecule as NO, nitric oxide. It is a lecture authored by Dr. Nathan S. Bryan, Ph.D and is already from 2020, yet almost all of the information in it will probably be new and surprising to you. So right at the beginning Dr. Bryen learns about a study that shows that poor blood and oxygen supply is probably behind all chronic problems. Subsequently, he shows us that not only CO2 is necessary for the release of oxygen from the hemoglobin of red blood cells (Bohr effect), but that nitric oxide is also needed for this.
